Malawi National Beach Soccer team joined the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers for the first time in July 2022 when they were paired against Tanzania.
Malawi edged Tanzania on away goal rule to qualify for their maiden Africa Cup of Nations beach soccer national team yesterday made history by qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) Beach Soccer on away goal rule against Tanzania.
They beat Tanzania 3-2 at home before losing 6-5 away to tie 8-8 om aggregate.
At the AFCON held in Vilankuro, Mozambique between October 21-28, 2022, Malawi finished sixth.
The team lost on penalties to Uganda in the 5th and 6th place classification .
This was after they finished third in group A after losing 4-2 to hosts Mozambique and 7-2 to Morocco.
