The Malawi Under 23 won two training matches in a row in Belgium where they are on a two week camp in preparation for a 2019 Under 23 AFCON Qualifier against Zambia.
On Wednesday the Junior Flames travelled to Holland where they beat Dutch side RODA JC 1-0 courtesy of a goal by captain Chimwenwe Idana.
On Tuesday the lads came from behind to pull a stunning 3-2 win over Genk VV with goals from Mike Mkwate, Patrick Phiri and Hassan Kajoke.
The two wins were a relief to coach Meke Mwase and his team after losing their first two games 3-1 to OHL on Monday and STVV last week.
Mwase said the boys are improving every day as evidenced by the results.
“ We conceded six goals in the first two matches. Then conceded only two in the third match and kept a clean sheet in the last game.
“ We have scored in all the four games and in the third game we showed rare character of coming from behind.
“ This shows that the boys are getting better every day and if we keep this momentum going we will be in great shape when we face Zambia next month,” he said.
The team will play their next match on Friday against Patro MM before facing SP Hasselt on Saturday in their last match of the tour.
The squad will leave Belgium on Sunday for Egypt where they will play an international friendly match with Egypt Under 23 on 8th March.
The lads are expected home on 9th March.
