A group of the Malawi National Football Team supporters under the MBC Stand Supporters Initiative on Wednesday took a leading role in drumming up support for the Flames ahead of Saturday’s CHAN 2020 qualifier against Eswatini by visiting the team’s training ground.
The supporters brought various assorted items including fruits and refreshments worth K240, 000 as way of showing their love for the team.
The group’s chairperson Wilson Sudi said their visit was aimed at boosting the team’s morale for Saturday’s must win match.
“We requested FAM to allow us interact with the team as we believe that there is a great relationship between the two groups, players and supporters, because we can’t talk football without one of them.
“On Saturday we must win for us to proceed to the next round. But again, we have not won a game for so long, so the boys need all the support to do well.
“We wanted to show a different kind of support to our team because supporting the team does not only mean going to the stadium and cheer but also getting to meet them face to face and offer them encouragement,” said Sudi.
Flames Captain John Lanjesi hailed the Supporters for the gesture and assured them and all Malawians that the team will do the best to win on Saturday.
“We are very grateful to the MBC Supporters Initiative for their support. As a team, we will do our best to make our supporters happy this coming Saturday because we are at home. All we can ask for is that Malawians should come in their large numbers and support us”, said Lanjesi.
The Malawi National football Team will on Saturday, 11 May, 2019 face Eswatini at the Kamuzu Stadium after a goalless first leg in Manzini, Eswatini on 20th April.
