Ndawa says all is not lost for Malawi U-20

Malawi National Under-20 coach Franco Ndawa has said all is not lost for his charges following their two all draw during the first leg of the African Youth Championship game with Tanzania that took place at the Kamuzu Stadium on March 17, 2010.

Ndawa said the young Flames failed to capitalize on home ground advantage during the match because they did not to coordinate very well having been given a short period of time to prepare for the match.

"I am hopeful that we will do better in Tanzania because we will now have ample time to get ourselves prepared for the return leg.

"You see we failed to tick properly on a number of areas especially in midfield and defense. We gave away those two goals due to poor marking and we are going to polish on these areas as we prepare for the next match. Of course it will not be an easy task to beat them at their own backyard but in football
anything is possible," said Ndawa.

He further said he will work hard on his striking force which failed to utilize good scoring chances that were created during the first match.

"For us to win the second leg tie we need to be effective enough upfront, so we have to sharpen our attacking machinery to be able to make use of our chances," he explained.

South African based striker Robin Ngalande netted the opener in the first half before the Tanzanians netted two quick goals in the second half. Anthony Banda scored the equalizer to the relief of the home crowd that attended the game.

Soccer analyst Moses Dossi has advised the Under-20 side to fire at full throttle to win the away match to take place during the first week of May.

"We have a bold squad that is capable of delivering the goods. However, they have to fire from all the cylinders because they will have nothing to lose in Tanzania," said Dossi a former BBC Sports correspondent.
