The Malawi U23 National Football Team will this afternoon face Egypt U23 in an international friendly match as they wrap up their abroad training camp in preparation for AFCON U23 qualifier against Zambia later this month.
The team arrived in Egypt last Sunday from Belgium where they spent two weeks and played six training matches with top Belgian clubs.
In the six games the Junior Flames registered two wins, two losses and two draws.
U23 coach Meke Mwase said the match against Egypt, who are the hosts of the AFCON U23 finals in November will give them a clear picture of their readiness to face Zambia.
“We have two injured players, Ernest Tambe and Hassan, but the rest of the team is fit for the encounter. The boys have worked hard and responded well to all our trainings and it is time to show what we learnt in Europe”, said Mwase.
The team returns home tomorrow to continue with preparations before hosting Zambia on 20th March at the Kamuzu Stadium and 26th March in Lusaka.
