FIFA Goal Project

INTRODUCTION:

The FIFA Goal Programme was initiated by the FIFA President Joseph Seppi Blatter for the benefit of national associations, and ratified by the 1999 Extraordinary FIFA Congress in Los Angeles, USA. Goal is a tailor-made development and assistance programme designed to realize projects based on the specific needs of national associations.

The Goal programme has played a pivotal role in making football more professional. Goal is not the only source of hope and inspiration for FAM, but also serves as an incentive for investing in the development of football in the country.

 

GOAL PROJECT I

refurbished rooms at Chiwembe

FAM is already benefitting from the first phase of the Goal projects with a state of the art Technical and Development Centre. This first phase was constructed with FIFA money to the tune of $570,544. This centre is situated in Chiwembe Township, about 2 kilometres off Illovo Round-About in Limbe. It was opened on 20th February 2005.

The phase comprises  of the following facilities:

-              26 Hostel room with 54 beds (10 of the rooms are self-contained)

-              Separate shower rooms and toilets

-              A conference room

-              An auditorium

-              5 offices

The goal project one has recently underwent a face lift and the rooms upgraded to hotel standards.

 

GOAL PROJECT II

This second phase consists of a rehabilitated administration block, a restaurant, a bar and a gym plus one playing field which have cost FIFA approximately the allocated amount of $400,000. The secretariat was finally able to move into the new wing on the 18th July 2010. The bar, gym and restaurant became operational in December 2013

GOAL PROJECT III

FAM and Fifa officials visit the goal project three

This third phase consist of a mini-technical centre situated in Luwinga, Mzuzu, the northern part of Malawi. The construction of this third phase was launched in March 2012 and was completed end of October 2012 after FIFA approved project funding of $400,000.  The total project money came up to US$570,000 of which FIFA provided the approved amount of US$400,000 and CAF and FAM provided the balance. The project will be completed in August 2015

-              Offices

-              A football pitch

-              A conference room

- Hostels

GOAL PROJECT IV

The goal project four will be situated in Lilongwe and construction shall commence in May 2015.
