About 40 FAM Under 15 academy players resumed training at Chilomoni stadium in Blantyre on Saturday ahead of the academy’s official launch set for 9th March.
The players are drawn from Misesa, Kapeni , Kajedza and Limbe primary schools.
Since November the boys have been drilled in basics of the game and on Saturday the coaches focused on small sided games.
There are four coaches including former internationals Clement Kafwafwa and Sherry Msuku as well as experienced junior coaches Sylus Luwindo and Abel Mkandawire .
On Friday the boys will undergo educational sessions with special teachers at the Mpira village
FAM Technical Director said the boys are responding well to training and will be in great shape when the academy fully rolls out in March.
“These training session are important to get the boys used to what is expected of them when we start serious business in March.
“Apart from the training sessions which are currently done on weekends the boys will also be attending special academic classes to ensure that we instill that mentality of concentrating on both fronts,” said Kaputa.
Once the pilot phase proves to be successful FAM will introduce the academies in Lilongwe and Mzuzu later on as FAM intensifies its Youth development programmes.
