Rab Processors are the new sponsors of Malawi’s oldest football league The Southern Region Football League after committing to a three-year deal renewable yearly at K 14 million per year.
Rab’s Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Sunka broke the news today during a press briefing at the Mpira House in Chiwembe and said the sponsorship is themed under one of their brands ThumbsUp soft drink and thus the league will be called The ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League.
Sunka said Rab’s gesture comes because of the company’s confidence in the administration of Football Association of Malawi as well as the League organsiers, Southern Region Football Association.
“The partnership serves as one way of giving back to the football fans who are also Rab’s customers.
The league involves teams from the rural areas who needs proper platform to expose their talent. We want to play a role in the development of football by providing that platform,” he said.
FAM president Walter Nyamilandu hailed Rab for the sponsorship and assured the sponsors that they will not regret partnering with Football.
“This is great news for the oldest league in Malawi and for the history of Malawi football in general. We thank you for coming on board and we promise to give you back value of every penny you will spend through our various platforms.
“ Let me urge SRFA’s administration to safeguard this partnership by being transparent and accountable in handling the sponsorship funds,” he said.
SRFA chairman Raphael Humba assured Rab Processors that his administration will handle the funds with the highest level of accountability.
“ Let me thank you for partnering with us. The sponsorship will go a long way to expose young players . This sponsorship will help us develop strong teams that will be able to stand the heat in the Super League,” said Humba.
Rab processors is a Malawian company that specializes in Commodity Trading, Agro-Processing and Manufacturing as well as Distribution of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods.
Rab’s sponsorship to SRFA comes after the League partied ways with its one-year partner, United Purpose just a week ago.
