Civil Sporting Club are top of the TNM Super League following their 3-0 victory over visiting Karonga United at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

Bullets and Wanderers were on bye due to Flames match

Raphael Phiri, Dan Kumwenda and Isaac Msiska were on target for the Civil Servants who are tied on six points with fellow capital city-based side Blue Eagles, but the former has a better goal difference.

It was a second successive triumph for Civil Sporting who won by a similar margin in their 2019 league opener against Mlatho Mponela the previous week.

Eagles pipped rookies Ntopwa FC 1-0 on Saturday via Kingsley Kuwali’s strike to go top of the table, albeit temporarily.

It was a weekend of mixed fortunes for Karonga who beat Mlatho 3-2 the previous day in Kasungu.

This was a second successive loss for Mlatho who are yet to register a point in their debut season in the top-flight league. They anchor the 16-team league.

Moyale Barracks have moved up to third position with four points following their 3-2 win over TN Stars.

Walusungu N’dola, Lloyd Njaliwa and Deus Nkutu were on target for the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) side.

Four teams—third-placed Silver Strikers, Mighty Tigers who are fourth, Be Forward Wanderers (seventh) and Nyasa Big Bullets (eighth)—were on bye.

Silver, Bullets and Wanderers were exempted having contributed a number of players to the national team which was in e-Swatini for a Chan qualifier.
